Let The Fun Begin

Here I am at the beginning of the second chapter of wedding season 2011. The drought of summer weddings is over. Beautiful weather is returning. People are beginning to head back outdoors.

I stand at the top of an Olympic Ski Lift. Ready to ski my way to the bottom of a steep mountain. Ready for the applause and awards waiting at the bottom. I am nervous yet excited, rested and ready.

Today is the start of twelve beautiful weddings to photograph in just eleven short weeks. I am blessed but anxious. Ready to create some of the most beautiful work I've done to date.

Merry Christmas!!

I'm off to Rochester, NY to enjoy some much needed time off with family and friends. I hope to get some awesome photos, enjoy some wine tasting, and (most importantly!) see everyone I've missed over the last year! I'll return all emails and phone calls once I get back after Christmas. Hope everyone has an awesome holiday season!

Fresh New Blog Action!

I've been meaning to clean up this blog for awhile. It was getting a bit outdated, and frankly it was a bit cluttered. So tonight I played around with my best friends: HTML and CSS, and we created something fresh and new.

For those of you that subscribe via RSS, throw me a visit and click here to checkout the new layout! Gone is all the junk to the right of the posts and the images are front and center, just like they should be! Hope everyone enjoys!

New Feature: Client Proofing and Ordering Galleries!

It's been a little while in the making but its officially here! I'm launching my brand new photo ordering section of my website today!

So what does this mean for future clients? They will have the opportunity to browse all their images online in a secure, password protected gallery. Not only will they be able to view them, they will also be able to share the photos with others, create favorites, order high quality prints and canvas wraps, and purchase a variety of customized merchandise. That's right, no more having Uncle Joe bug you for prints, just give him the password and send him the link to the online gallery where he can order as much as he wants! The interface is extremely easy to use and gives access to tons of unique products, from huge canvas prints to custom coffee mugs, its all there.

So what if you did a shoot with me in the past and missed out on this? I'm working on putting my past shoots up on the website so you can enjoy all the benefits as well. If you are curious about when your session will be available just shoot me a quick email and I'll hurry it up!

I've got a public gallery up now with some of my Night, Nature, and Automotive photographs in it. All shots are available for purchase so try it out! To thank you for reading this far you can use coupon code: launch10 at checkout to take 10% off any of my Night, Nature, and Automotive Photos. This coupon will expire at the end of July, 2010 so use it soon! You can view the Gallery HERE. Enjoy!!

Josh Jones Photography | Now In HD

After converting my Greenville Wedding Photographer Website and my Photo Blog to HD, it was a natural step that I convert my main Josh Jones Photography Website to HD as well!

It took a whole lot more time to do, mainly because there are a LOT more photos divided in a lot more categories. I've concentrated on Wedding, Portrait, Automotive, Nature, and Architecture. I've finally completed it and now it's uploaded (for your viewing pleasure) in new levels of clarity for you to look at. Check it out, lots of new photos, and lots more detail. J. Josh's Photo Vortex: Now in HD

In celebration of one full year of blogging I've decided to make the site W I D E R. As you probably noticed this allows a lot more space for the good stuff (the photos!). Since most people have a decent sized monitor these days, and 56k is pretty much dead (woohooo!) there is no reason to keep the site (and images) so small. As for you people who follow me on facebook, click here to visit my actual blog and start viewing my posts in HD!

So get your big monitors and high speed connections ready! Our blog is now in High Definition!

Introducing new gallery wrapped canvas prints!

I've always loved gallery wrapped canvas's, which are traditionally used by painters. Recently wrapped canvas prints have boiled over to photography. Needless to say I had to try some to see what they are all about. And WOW are they awesome. Much less glare than traditional prints, outstanding color reproduction, and the print has a unique 3D quality to it because part of the image is actually wrapped around the sides. Here are a few of the ones I ordered recently!

I'm offering these in sizes ranging from 11x14" all the way up to 30x40" with prices ranging from $140-500. All gallery wrapped canvas prints are printed on commercial grade photographic canvas and coated using a special process that will ensure fade free performance for over 100 years. All canvases come wrapped over 1.5” wooden frames and come ready to mount. Custom sizes are available upon request.

Candid. Simple. Timeless. - Greenville Wedding Photography

I've been questioning myself over the last few months, what is my photography really all about? After pondering this question over and over again I finally came up with three big areas that I want my photography to be about.

Candid - The majority of my photos should be candid. Catching people in their element, having fun, being themselves. This isn't to say that a little direction isn't good every now and then, but it is important to capture the true personality of the subject.

Simple - My photography should be simple. Each picture should have a purpose, a subject, without a lot of clutter and distractions to take away from it. My layouts, framing, and website should be simple and not take away from the photographs. Planning a photo session or wedding package should be simple, fun, and easy to do.

Timeless - It is crucial that photographs stand the test of time. The whole point of photography is to manipulate time, capturing a select moment forever. Our style and editing should be able to reproduce that moment many years from now. This is why we don't use a lot of the over-the-top photoshop effects that will look dated just a few years from now.

These three aspects will be crucial to my photography, business, and brand from now on. I've updated my websites with a new intro. Check it out here: J Jones Photography - Main Greenville Site or on our dedicated greenville wedding site: J Jones Photography - Greenville Spartanburg Wedding Photography. Enjoy!

Introducing my all new website

New website coming soon!

I know I know the blog has been a little slow lately. I've been trying to cram as much xml, css, flash, SEO, and ftp coding as possible. Over the last week I've basically been redesigning my entire website from the ground up. Thanks to Professor Jorgensen at SUNY Albany I've gotten a lot of great tips and feedback. It's coming along great and I can't wait to show everyone. Here's a sneak preview of the new site!

Temporary Issues...

Well I guess this is a good thing. My host for the past 6 months, Photobucket, seems to think I have overgrown their monthly bandwidth limit for this month. They offer up to 25GB of bandwidth for a month and it looks like I've already hit that.

According to Photobucket I have over 1200 images up on this blog and between them all I've had well over 200,000 hits in the past month alone! This is craziness! Flattering, but crazy! Well anyways, I'll have to figure out a new strategy for uploading images...

So sorry about the inconvenience, everything should be fixed soon.

Edit: I just signed up with a new host that I will be using from now on. The photos should now load noticeably faster as well! I relinked all the photos in my last post so they should be working. As for the others, they will be up whenever Photobucket flips over to a new month. I need some sleep, it's too late for this!
